How’s it going? I’m Alex Harris of alexdesigns.com. We’re talking all about conversion optimization with my mastermind group. We have David Prochaska today. How you doing, David?

Pretty good! The mastermind group that we have together is all focused on improving conversion rate, generating more leads generating more traffic to your website. And we have the opportunity to really talk together and learn from each other about whatever specific specialties we may have when we do business in the web. David does a lot of SEO and traffic generation in his sites. A couple of projects on lead generation. In lead generation space, what would be some ideas about how you use SEO and traffic generation tools for a client that’s generating leads to adword or natural search, David?

David

Some of the tools that I use for lead generation of course is adwords. The keyword tool that they use they have this really awesome. Some of the strategies to get those leads into sites you know you want to be able to target, you wanna have a good target. I have good target keywords and can find those keywords through the adwords tool and you want to setup your campaigns in you ad groups, you know the best way to monitor those leads is to see what keywords triggering your ads. I’m sorry I’m messing up.

So you have to know what keywords that are triggering your ads and which keywords are you know, profitable and not profitable. If you have keywords that are triggering your ads that are bringing a lot of people to your site, some people are converting, then you might wanna look deeper into those ads and add some negative keywords to that ad group.

There’s always so much data regarding to try to get all these stuff you know simplified. Everybody wants to drive more traffic whether it’s through cheap paid ad or natural search or in social media. Do you find that, you know clients have a hard time you know understanding the most profitable traffic is and have you kind of figured out you know the best ways to drive the least expensive ad, the least expensive traffic for the best profit.

So I used to create ads and try to generate paid traffic is to create an ad that’s targeted everybody, okay. So if you have an ad, I use a lot of Facebook. Okay, so let’s just say Facebook for example. If your target audience is about 7 million people, then that’s pretty wide audience that you’re targeting. So you might get a lot of impressions and show up a lot of people brains. But if you narrow down your audience, it works a whole lot better so instead of having one ad and target 7 million people, you know break your ads up age groups. Break it up to gender. You really want a target big and you know just like in conversion rate optimization, you test. You also want to test the ads that are pointing to that site. You want to see the ads point to the best. If you have an ad that’s not performing like you thought it would then, you know obviously you want to scratch that out but having 4, 5 different ads and have 4,5 different metrics used to track in those ads, it’s the best way to go.

Yeah, it’s all about that measurement the ability to track. My plans they track different ways. I usually do recommend additional tracking verge of analytics. You know I tend to use visual websites optimizer to track conversion and specific revenues and pages. There are any types of tracking tools that you’ve messed with?

I’ve sort of have a little bit experience clicky and it’s free up to certain amount of pages that you get them up but it’s a good Google analytics competitor to track and do your pay per click audit of your adwords account word stream. Wordstream.com they have a awesome tool that you give them access to your adwords campaigns and ad groups. They perform a really nice audit on how your campaign is performing if the keywords are targeting good or if they are not good. And another tool to see what my competitors are using, what their ads look like it’s SEM rush. And you can use that maybe 1 or 3 or 4 searches per you know the usual. You can do that about once a day but eventually it appears to them the confirmation of paid check and you want people to search in a day but you can do about 3 to 4 searches on SEM rush and you can actually see the ads of your competitors. You can see their ad and rank. You can see the keywords that they are targeting, the traffic they have and what they are paying for their ads. SEM rush is an awesome tool. You can do that as well.

Yeah it’s really a great tool. There are people that get clicky at wordstream.com. Most of them use analytics but SEM rush and the one I use is a visual optimizer but you guys listening out there get to know what type of tools you use and are you doing tracking, conversion optimization and lead generation plus that’s what this podcast is about. We are connecting with other people do similar stuff and execute this stuff online. Everyone has a different way of doing it about to hear what type of tools. Any last words before you wrap up this short access.

Sure. One thing before you go to lead generation anything like that, you need to know who your target audience. You know it’s the first thing to do and that would be my last piece of advise that I give to anybody before starting in the internet without knowing who you audience is.

Yeah, that’s actually a really good point coz’ you don’t wanna market everybody. You wanna really find out who your ideal customers are and then be able to create products and services specifically for them because it doesn’t matter how much traffic you drive to your site and they don’t convert and you never get a profit.
