Welcome to the conversion rate optimization mastermind group where we talk all about tactics and actual advise to help our clients’ websites and make more money and for us to get more leads to get more clients. But today we’re talking all about the best landing page tips that people mostly overlook. Bobby, what would be some of your top tips to get started?

So my top for the landing page is very different than any other page. So on this page, you really have to grab coz’ they came here and they’re gonna bounce or they came here looking for something and we have to assure them that it’s there but something’s people overlook are testimonials and animation effects. So testimonials are usually after thought. I’ve seen it as an after though in most cases where people just add to –to the page a form social proof just because it seems to be the best tactics but they’re too—to release and intensify the effect of your testimonials. One way is simply add a headline to it. We add headlines to our pages, to our copy and for some reason we get to testimonials, we think we don’t need them. So the super simple way I do it is within the testimonial copy itself, we pull the copy and pick out the three or four words that are most impactful on the page and you use that. You should pull that out a quote for the testimonial. And I think another member in our group has some testimonials on his page which he would be a great example Frank’s page. That’s it, exactly flexleads.com. So on there, and you may have already make his change coz’ we had our mastermind group yesterday and talk to you about it. So we got some testimonials on the page and hare’s some testimonials on the page and this is what I work hard. So the testimonial goes like this, I started the flexleads four years ago and it has grow my business exponentially. I no longer use the yellow pages to direct mail because flex leads get more clients at a better price. So those are couple of jammers in there that I would pull out and test or a headline. One is flexleads gives more clients at a better price and that’s a headline quote. Another is flexleads has grow my business exponentially. So the goal is already in the testimonials is just a matter of pulling them out and putting them right above the testimonial.

Well from a designer’s perspective, the take away is that people scan to pages especially on landing pages coming off the pay per click. They have a low attention span, they click and they scroll so you wanna pull out those keywords and making them big and making them sure that they look like quotes or testimonials and then you use the keywords that people are looking for maybe in the testimonials as well. That way when they scan to your page, those keywords really pop out and that’s where it really work that’s gonna help you –

You’re right and that actually brings you to another ninja tactic there. So a lot of people just gather these portfolios and click on these testimonials to put up but I like to take a more systematic approach and gather testimonials, yeah but don’t just grab them all and put them up. I like to create an excel spreadsheet and list out the objections that someone would have from buying your product and then match up the testimonials to each objection so you’re really sort of hitting the nail of hand when it comes to all the objections you have when you’re wrapping the group on top of that. Objective number one and your solving on the page worth the testimonial—in the headline of the testimonial and when you have a lot of testimonials on page, like you said from the designer’s perspective, people would just scan at it and they’re gonna see others a lot of testimonials – but it’s too much to read. It’s kind of just there to make me feel more comfortable. And if I wanna read it –it’s sure more like to scan the headline then it’s hard to read each individual testimonials. So if you just pull out the quotes and dealing with the objections or the best quotes in there –the time you’re really diving for the objections to match them up like that. Just adding testimonial headlines can help tremendously.

Yeah and while were on the headlines, you can mention some tips for landing page improvements of headlines. The obvious one would be to use the message match and match the keywords that you’re typing in Google with the landing page to bring over certain keywords and I believe there’s a lot of different software or you can do this now. I know I’m bounce is releasing it or not yet. I’m not totally sure but with the keywords that you use in your pay per click ads you can bring those keywords and dynamically put headlines in your landing pages. Bobby, do you have others?

No, I haven’t in the past to get that program— bounces releasing that. I think that’s great to get that message match like you said. Another tip on the landing page is animation and I know the best practice is to stay away from distracting carousel images but used in the right way makes you really have a lot of impact – of waiting right when you use it is use animation very subtlety and when you want to draw the eye to something. Oftentimes we don’t use it that way, we just use it just to produce more messages or to show more. So when I mean when using the right way is let’s see if you have a call to action button and you add a little animation, a little shimmer effect, a little animated gift there that grabs the users attention that it’s just on that button and suddenly enough to draw that eye to that call to action.

That’s important the button in that form section is really the focal point. That’s what you wanna get people to do so your eye should make and look at a photo and then be drawn over to the button for call to action and using those animated gifts or some type inter activity. Oh sorry not interactivity but animation, you’ll draw your eye over to a lot further. Also, the visual queues like arrows. Also when you actually hover over the buttons, make sure that you have CSS hovers that are contrasting so people visually know that they can actually click on those things.

Yeah. And then all of these really go back to some change, chamber effect, the hover effect. It’s essentially something change in your environment, something change on the page and where –program to react to change or notice change and see something—back days so that’s why we use techniques to where it really work.

It’s because you have to try many different variations of landing pages to figure out the right format for you. Don’t just put up one landing page and expect that one to be the one that actually gonna convert the best. Take the exact same content from one landing page and have 5 or ten different landing pages created and then test them all. Then you’ll figure out the right composition for you.
